When I was in Toronto I came across this modest book of Francesco Vezzolis needlepoints & videos. Thankfully I picked it up and wrote his name down. This artists work is painfully entertaining, especially his video project "MARLENE REDUX: a True Hollywood Story!, that premiered at The Tate Modern, London last June. It is hard to determine what in the plot is real, vs. nonreal?, leaving you questioning the legitimacy not only of the video, but the artist, curators/actors male prostitute/actors actor/actors etc., entertainment, fame, and yourself (as a viewer, actually taking time out to watch it). I was engaged, I was entertained, but isn't that the point of it all?
