From the introduction to "Young Gifted Design" featuring SAIC alongside nine other design school exhibitions from Milan Design Week 2008.
Showcasing its young designers' ideas, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago is planning multiple exhibitions during the week of Salone del Mobile 2009. In conjunction with its SaloneSatellite exhibition, SAIC's second in three years, the School will be presenting two complimentary exhibitions--the only American school to do so. These include a series of projects developed with designer Jonathan Olivares and Danese, exhibited at the Danese showroom, and a series of speculative projects developed in the School's Motorola funded GFRY Design Studio, developed to promote responsible energy usage.

The three-pronged exhibition reflects the multi-disciplinary program at SAIC. Students start from a deep cultural investigation into past, current, and future behaviors to design and produce highly refined objects. The intersection of architecture, interior architecture, and designed objects in one department (AIADO) recognizes the density of contemporary material culture and the potential of the built environment to transform our experiences.
